Cà Foscari University of Venice

The Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) has an internationally outstanding reputation of academic excellence in both research and teaching.
Founded in 1868 as the first Italian high school devoted to commerce and economics, it has grown and
developed new relevant subject areas and nowadays is composed of 8 Departments. The Department of
Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics (DAIS) supports research activities on integrated
approaches and tools for the assessment and management of risks posed by environmental stressors on human health and ecosystems. A main field of expertise consists in the development of risk-based Decision Support Systems (DSS) for the assessment and management of specific (mainly environmental) issues. Particular attention is paid to the application of advanced research tools, such as data elaboration tools and methodologies of Decision Analysis (Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, Fuzzy Sets Theory) as well as methods for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis, for supporting the decision-making process in different fields.
