FORTH

The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), established in 1983, is one of the largest research centres in Greece with well-organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation as a top-level research foundation worldwide. The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) was founded in 1984 in Patras and merged with FORTH three years later. ICE-HT is currently a centre of excellence in the chemical engineering sciences both nationally and in EU. The current research activities of the institute are focused on three major research areas: Nanotechnology/ New Materials, Energy/Environment and Biosciences/ Biotechnology. ICE-HT is currently running a broad variety of basic and applied research projects attracting funding from competitive national, European and international agencies, as well as, directly from the industry. The Institute is also very active in the exploitation of research results through the establishment of spin-off companies and the promotion of new products and services.

Expertise and infrastructure related to the project

FORTH will contribute to the project on the development of novel solutions and tools for preventive conservation and to the validation of effectiveness of proposed tools. FORTH will play a significant role in the following activities:
• Production and characterization of graphene-based membranes for humidity protection
• Production and characterization of graphene aerogel
• Production of graphene-based heaters and humidity sensors
• Production of sandwich polymer-graphene-polymer laminate materials as VOCs barriers
